About South Haven

 

South Haven, located on Lake Michigan, was first founded in 1789. The small town has a rich history in the lumbar industry. The lumbar industry cleared much of the land which made way for a booming fruit industry, cider mills, and canning factories. In 1969, South Haven held it’s first Blueberry Festival, a celebration and reflection of the great progress the town of has made in its remarkable history. The town’s history in the fruit industry is still prevalent today and can be seen weekly at the Saturday Farmer’s Market.

Popular attractions include the South Haven Light, the Michigan Maritime Museum, South Beach, and North Beach.

Visit South Beach.

Visiting the South Haven Lighthouse and South Beach is a family favorite.

Explore Downtown.

The city center is within walking distance from the cottage. Check out the local shops and grab a bite to eat.

Go to the movies.

Michigan Theater is a small town theater with limited movie showings but ample charm and popcorn.

Venture the trails.

Van Buren Trail is located just steps outside of the cottage’s front door. Take a walk or take the provided bikes from a ride.
